What is GPS?

PRECISE

GPS, which stands for Global Positioning System, is a means of technology that allows you to determine your exact longitude, latitude and elevation. GPS is designed and operated by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). Coded signals from three or more satellites are processed by your GPS every second to calculate your location within 40 to 50 feet. By comparing that data with map information, your GPS is able to calculate the best route to your destination.
